'The "No Jewellery" policy is a fundamental safety requirement dictated by the International Football Association Board (IFAB) under Law 4 of the Laws of the Game. This is a global standard applied to all sanctioned soccer matches, from local youth leagues to the professional level. ![]()

The primary concern is the physical safety of both the wearer and their opponents. In a high-intensity contact sport like soccer, items such as rings, bracelets, or necklaces can catch on jerseys or hair, leading to severe injuries like lacerations.![]()

Also, hard objects like watches or studs can cause significant bruising or eye injuries to other players during a challenge or a header.![]()

Also, FIFA and the IFAB clarified several years ago that taping is not an acceptable substitute for removal. Tape does not prevent a stud from being pushed into the head or neck upon impact, nor does it fully eliminate the risk of an item being snagged. ![]()
