Overview
Coaching is a very fulfilling way to mentor young people and connect with your community. With new standards laid out by Canada Soccer, all coaches are required to complete a certification program designed for the age of the players they are coaching.
This program is provided through Canada Soccer and involves two parts - the online theory component (2-3 hrs) and the on-field practical component (2-4 hrs). KSYSA covers all costs associated with this education!

Make sure to add your info to our coach registry to help streamline our communications to you!
Step Two
Online Module
Obtain your keycode from Brian at ksysacoach1@gmail.com and register for the Grassroots Coach Program.
Instructions:
- Please try to complete the on line portion ASAP (March 1, 2026).
- Please follow the directions closely.
- Within 2 weeks of completing the on line portion, you’ll be able to register for the on field portion of the course through your coachcentre.ca account.
- Payment code is ksysa26 .
Step Three
Practical Workshop
Once you have completed your online training (Grassroots Coach Program), please register for your on field session.
The on field portion of the course will be held in the Spring:
Active Start: Friday April 10 18:00-20:00pm Pople Park
FUNdamentals: Sat April 11 8:00-11:00am. Pople Park
Learn To Train: Sat April 11 12:00-16:00 Pople Park
Step Four
Criminal Record Check (CRC)
KSYSA coaches are required to complete a Criminal Record Check every 5 years. This process is FREE!
Please complete your Criminal Record Check and enter the following code (unique to KSYSA): PGGVD4HXZ7
Step Five
Respect in Sport
All coaches are required to complete Respect in Sport for Activity Leaders. KSYSA will pay for the course. If you completed this course with another association, please forward your certificate, or take a screen shot of you coach.ca coaching profile (in The Locker).

Program Access Instructions:
- If you have an existing Activity Leader Program certificate, select Already Certified and follow the prompts.
- If you have an existing profile in any other Respect Group program, select New to this Program then Look-Up
- If this is your first time registering for a Respect Group Program, New to this Program followed by Registered
Complete registration.
- Select Submit at the bottom of the page. You will be requested to review and accept the Privacy policy.
- On the payment page, click Enter Code
Pre-Registration Code: KSSA-E6A7E3Y - Once successfully logged in, you will default to the Home page. Select Program Access to view the modules.
- To re-access the program, return to the same URL indicated above and enter the username and password created during registration.
General Information: Be sure to choose “Kootenay South Youth Soccer” as the club.
